Calico is a research and development company whose mission is to harness advanced technologies to increase our understanding of the biology that controls lifespan. We will use that knowledge to devise interventions that enable people to lead longer and healthier lives. Executing on this mission will require an unprecedented level of interdisciplinary effort and a long-term focus for which funding is already in place.
Calico is inviting applications from cancer immunologists who are excited to work within a scientific team using state-of-the-art technologies to develop novel innovative approaches to modulate the immune system to manage cancer. The Principal Investigator will oversee a research group focused on the discovery and validation of novel candidate targets for immunotherapeutics to treat cancer, and will participate directly in identifying and managing external partnerships.
A Ph.D. degree in immunology, cell biology, molecular biology, or genetics is required as well as a completed post-doc and at least 5 more years of additional research experience—preferably in an industry setting. Qualified candidates will have a track record of exceptional research productivity in some aspect of immunology-related cancer research, including impactful scientific publications. Candidates should be comfortable with basic bioinformatic tools for analysis of genomic and related data, and ideally, should have a solid understanding of the drug discovery and development process, as well as the current clinical landscape of immunotherapeutic development in oncology. We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic team player, who thrives on attention to detail, and has excellent verbal/written communication skills.
