Who we are:
Calico is a research and development company whose mission is to harness advanced technologies to increase our understanding of the biology that controls lifespan. We will use that knowledge to devise interventions that enable people to lead longer and healthier lives. Executing on this mission will require an unprecedented level of interdisciplinary effort and a long-term focus for which funding is already in place.
Calico wishes to establish an experimental live molecular imaging facility dedicated to advancing our understanding of the biology and pathophysiology of mammalian aging and age-related diseases. This facility will be centered around advanced MR imaging techniques but will include other modalities (CT, US and optical-based imaging techniques) to meet the specific needs of the research programs. Calico provides a stimulating and collaborative working environment focused on fundamental discovery research but with the commitment and resources to translate the scientific advances to recognize the therapeutic potential. The Principal Investigator will oversee a research group focused on these imaging studies, and will be responsible for building a state-of-the-art facility supporting both basic and translational science across the organization. The successful candidate is expected to lead imaging technology innovation to advance the capabilities of the facility.
A Ph.D. degree in biology, biotechnology, physiology, chemistry or bioengineering is required as well as more than 5 years of post-doctoral training and experience in developing and applying state-of-the-art MR imaging techniques. Further, the qualified candidates will have had direct experience and extensive knowledge of other imaging technologies (for example, CT, optical, ultrasound), image process and a strong scientific track record as evident from publications, and/or patents.
